Visit the Greek island of Skiathos
Skiathos has been kept a secret by those who discovered it many years ago and keep returning year after year. The island has been through many changes over the last 20 years but it still has that "je ne sais quoi?". I picked a hotel by reading internet reviews - Magic Hotel in Agia Paraskevi, situated in a little bay centre of the island, ideal location and great sea views.

Being close to the beach, I woke up most mornings to the sound of the waves from the sea. Hotel personnel could not do enough for their guests, always attentive to your needs and friendly. The food was impeccable, both at breakfast and dinner. Some evenings, on a short bus ride into Skiathos town, we took a romantic stroll along the port, stopped off for a cocktail or two at one of the bars on the steps leading up to the church and then for supper in a fish restaurant.

We visited a few beaches, they all seemed similar with their golden sand, clear water, not too crowded, but our favourite was Paraskevi beach as it was a short distance from our hotel. Early evening we would sit on our balcony drinking a glass of wine whilst taking in the amazing views. Locally, there were lots of places to eat and drink, a few supermarkets and some even sold foreign newspapers and magazines.
